Product: KETO OS by Pruvit….

“Supercharges your ketones in one hour or less! “
“Within an hour, blood ketones spike to 5.4mm/mmol!”
“Claims to “put you into ketosis!”

Upon further reading….
You must follow a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet….a “ketogenic diet” with the supplement to maintain ketosis.

“This is the only product on the market that contains ketones”.

The one packet per day of Pruvit KETO OS (part of the “Myketocoach diet plan”) is a hoax. I tried to copy the Nutrition Facts for Pruvit KETO OS, but was unable to because a pop-up screen claims the Nutrition Facts are “protected by copyright.” Nutrition Facts are never under copyright but Pruvit, the product’s manufacturer, does not want anyone to circulate the Nutrition Facts that clearly show the gimmick this product is.

So, 1 packet of this product contains:
110 calories
7 grams of fat
970 mg sodium
3 grams of net carb (2 grams are sugar)
1 gram of protein.
And caffeine.

The nutrition facts show a useless product that is VERY high in sodium, low in protein, low in carb, and low in fat. How can this product do anything at all to promote weight loss/fat burning?

When a person is in a fat burning mode, there will be trace or mild ketones in their URINE. A dipstick in the urine will change color. The DARKER the strip, the HIGHER the level of ketones. Put simply, the higher the ketones, the more dehydrated the person is. I tell my patients who insist on being in ketosis to use a urine dipstick and look for trace or mild ketones. This means they are in ketosis AND are hydrated. Having high ketones does not mean you are burning tons of body fat, it means you are burning fat and your urine is concentrated from dehydration.

Ingredients: MCT oil (provides fat grams from medium chain triglycerides), beta hydroxybutyrate (this is the chemical name for ketones produced in the bodies of those with uncontrolled type 1 diabetes who develop severe ketoacidosis), flavor, malic acid (preservative), stevia (sweetener) and caffeine.

So, it appears that the “magic ingredient” in KETO OS is “beta- hydroxybutyrate.”

What exactly is beta-hydroxybutyrate?

Ketones show up in the blood when a person is in a fat burning mode. Three types of blood ketones are: acetoacetate, acetone, and beta-hydroxybutyrate, a reduced form of acetoacetate.

When blood is tested for ketones, the test looks for the byproducts of fat metabolism. Ketones are produced when glucose is not available for fuel. In place of glucose, fatty acids are being used for energy and a byproduct of metabolizing fatty acids for energy are ketones. Ketones build up in the blood.

Initially, a person with high levels of ketones is in ketosis. But, in the case of uncontrolled Type 1 diabetes, ketosis can spiral out of control into metabolic acidosis; known as ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis can be a medical emergency and beta- hydroxybutyrate is the predominant ketone in severe diabetic ketoacidosis.

Blood testing gives a snapshot of the status of ketone accumulation at the time that the sample was collected.

Urine testing for ketones is MUCH MORE COMMON than blood testing for ketones. But….Urine testing does NOT detect beta-hydroxybutyrate.

So…. KETO OS is a product that adds an outside source of ketones to your blood and then tests your blood for the very ketones you ingested: beta-hyroxybutyrate. What you are seeing in your blood is NOT a show of your body being in a state of ketosis…. you are seeing the beta-hydroxybutyrate you took in the supplement! Can you even believe this?

AND….you will pay BIG MONEY for this useless product. The cost is $160.00 per month. If you use 2 packets/day, you will pay 320.00 per month.

Once you buy the KETO OS, you will be sent a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet.

Please don’t be fooled by this scam.

  1. Hélène says:

Ketones decrease in the urine as your body adapts to ketosis, meaning you are using the ketones, not just producing them. They aren’t floating around anymore in excess, they are providing energy to the cells. So your ketone readings will not be accurate after a few months max. Higher ketones do not mean more wgt loss. Especially as you keto-adapt. So measurement of ketones is really useless at any point. Adding more ketones thru a supplement will do nothing if you’re not using them because your body is still transitioning over to ketosis. Adding them once you are using them efficiently will do nothing also. Your body can create the correct amount thru lipolysis, that is — By Burning Your Fat Tissue.
All around, Keto Os is useless. Or any other ketones product. Even taking spoonfuls of coconut oil thruout the day is no panacea. It is healthy fat with MCTs but if you aint using ’em yet or ya already making enough, coconut oil wont raise wgt loss either.
