BIG Newsflash About Low Carb Diets….This Story Has Been 60 Years Coming!

August 4, 2014: “Low Carb Diet Recommended for ALL People with Diabetes”
The Metabolism Miracle is THE Lower Carb Program Proven to Work

Over the past 10 years, I have spoken about and written hundreds of articles regarding a very specific style lower carb- based program is the PERFECT diet for 68% of the adult population who unknowingly develop insulin imbalance, insulin resistance, and glucose intolerance.

The program is the ONLY program that works for 100% of the population with type 2 diabetes. Finally, ten years later, “the latest research” agrees with my teaching.

HOWEVER, providing half the story will not help the entire problem of obesity, overweight, and overweight. A key point is missing from this recent article because ANY LOW CARB PROGRAM IS NOT THE ANSWER. The diet program that is proven to work requires 3 required pieces that match the metabolism of a person genetically programmed to develop these health issues:

-the type of carbohydrate
-the amount of carbohydrate
-the timing of carbohydrate ingestion throughout the day and into the night.

Following just any low carb program is NOT the answer….as evidenced by the fact that when dieters move from Phase 1 to Phase 2 of the South Beach plan or try to move forward from the strict Induction Step on Atkins’ program, they regain all lost weight and blood sugar rises once again!

The low carb books  will fly off bookstore shelves  now that  a “low carb diet” is recommended. I promise that these “low carb diets” will fail to do the job. As soon as the reader moves beyond the unrealistic and unbalanced Step 1, the programs fail. And that is no way to solve the diabetes, overweight, and obesity problems. That’s a Band-aid.

It’s not just any old low carb diet that will prevent and treat glucose impairment, obesity, metabolic syndrome, pre diabetes, type 2 diabetes…It’s THE METABOLISM MIRACLE.

The Metabolism Miracle (or if you already have type 2 diabetes; The Diabetes Miracle) are scientifically based, medically sound, and proven 3 Step Programs will solve the epidemics that affect 68% of the adult population including hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, overweight, obesity, low Vitamin D, hormonal imbalance, and more.
Step 1: Rest and Rehab the pancreas and liver to decrease excess insulin release and resultant insulin resistance. Step 1 promotes weight loss through fat burning.
Step 2: Reprogram the rested pancreas and liver to handle carbohydrate of low glycemic index, in a specific amount, at appropriate times. This copyright protected step is the missing link in all other lower carb programs. Without Step 2, you will regain all your lost weight and your blood sugar will increase, again!
Step 3: Maintain your desired body weight, clothes size, and blood sugar on little to no medication for a lifetime: Your individualized carbohydrate allotment with specific rules to follow to use these carb grams correctly throughout the day and into the night.

The study, accepted for publication in Nutrition and available on the journal’s website, offers 12 points of evidence showing that low-carbohydrate diets should be the first line of attack for treatment of Type 2 diabetes, and should be used in conjunction with insulin in those with ype 1 diabetes.
The study, conducted by a consortium of 26 physicians and nutrition researchers, suggeststhe need for a reappraisal of dietary guidelines due to the inability of current recommendations to control the epidemic of diabetes. The authors point to the specific failure of the prevailing low-fat diets to improve obesity, cardiovascular risk or general health, and to the persistent reports of serious side effects of commonly prescribed diabetes medications. By comparison, the authors refer to the continued success of low-carbohydrate diets in the treatment of diabetes and metabolic syndrome without significant side effects.
“Diabetes is a disease of carbohydrate intolerance,” says Barbara Gower, PhD, professor and vice chair for research in the UAB Department of Nutrition Sciences and one of the study authors. “Reducing carbohydrates is the obvious treatment. It was the standard approach before insulin was discovered and is, in fact, practiced with good results in many institutions. The resistance of government and private health agencies is very hard to understand.”
The authors say their review of the medical literature shows that low-carbohydrate diets reliably reduce high blood sugar—the most salient feature of diabetes — and at the same time show general benefit for risk of cardiovascular disease.
The 12 points of evidence, backed up by clinical studies, are:
High blood sugar is the most salient feature of diabetes. Dietary carbohydrate
restriction has the greatest effect on decreasing blood glucose levels.
• During the epidemics of obesity and Type 2 diabetes, caloric increases have
been due almost entirely to increased carbohydrates.
• Benefits of dietary carbohydrate restriction do not require weight loss.
• Although weight loss is not required for benefit, no dietary intervention is
better than carbohydrate restriction for weight loss.
• Adherence to low-carbohydrate diets in people with Type 2 diabetes is at
least as good as adherence to any other dietary interventions and frequently is
significantly better.
• Replacement of carbohydrates with proteins is generally beneficial.
• Dietary total and saturated fats do not correlate with risk of cardiovascular disease.
Plasma-saturated fatty acids are controlled by dietary carbohydrates more
than by dietary lipids.
The best predictor of microvascular and, to a lesser extent, macrovascular
complications in patients with Type 2 diabetes is glycemic control (HbA1c).
• Dietary carbohydrate restriction is the most effective method of reducing serum triglycerides and increasing high-density lipoprotein.
• Patients with Type 2 diabetes on carbohydrate-restricted diets reduce and
frequently eliminate medication. People with type 1 usually require less insulin.
• Intensive glucose-lowering by dietary carbohydrate restriction has no side
effects comparable to the effects of intensive pharmacologic treatment.

“We’ve tried to present clearly the most obvious and least controversial arguments for going with carbohydrate restriction,” says Richard David Feinman, PhD, professor of cell biology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and lead author of the paper. “Here we take a positive approach and look to the future, while acknowledging this paper calls for change. The low-fat paradigm, which held things back, is virtually dead as a major biological idea. Diabetes is too serious a disease for us to try to save face by holding onto ideas that fail.”
