Lazy Brownies???? Or Lazy Adults???? A sedative disguised as a brownie can REALLY calm a child down……

This is pretty shocking.  Melatonin laced brownies have been making “children” sick. You read it right, parents are purchasing packaged products like “lazy brownies” and feeding them to their young children (2 years old!!!)  The kicker…these brownies cause fatigue and decrease energy levels….they slow down energy level!  So, a normal active 2 year old can eat a “lazy brownie” and become….lazy.

Melatonin is a normal brain chemical that controls our sleep/wake cycles.  There are about 8mg in a lazy brownie…and children can handle about .3mg.  So, a few bites of the Lazy Brownie and the child falls into a deep sleep.  The two year old had to be hospitalized.

Melatonin is also being added to drinks to “counter” the effects of energy drinks.  People are drinking energy drinks all day long (caffeine and sugar laced) to keep their energy level high and now using melatonin laced drinks and foods to shut themselves off.

Doesn’t this sound like the 60’s with “uppers” and “downers?”  (Does anyone remember the 60’s?????).

It is unconscionable for adults to feed children drugs of any kind….and don’t be fooled, this hormone is a drug in that it is altering normal mental/physical function.   Why do we need such products on the market, in our local food stores no less?
