Turn your living room into your own private dance studio, health club, yoga center, or personal gym!

I have always been a “private exerciser”.   I would rather exercise in the comfort of my own home, go for a walk or ride my bicycle rather than go to a gym or exercise in a group.   In meeting with patients and talking with readers via email, it seems as if the split is about 50/50.  There are those who feel   that working out at the gym or as part of an exercise class motivates them to exercise and push themselves a little harder.  Others feel that working out with others makes them self-conscious, uncomfortable, and in fact de-motivates them and makes them dread exercise.  Myself…..I like the ease of throwing on shorts and tee at any time (sometimes I’m exercising very late or very early),  going downstairs,  cranking up my tunes , and hopping on the elliptical machine ….without much planning, preening,  or forethought.

I found the hidden gem one snowy night as I scrolled through my “On Demand “menu looking for a movie.   My eyes lit up as I highlighted the option:  “On Demand” Exercise TV. My first thought, “How much will this cost?” The answer= Free!  My second thought was, “I really hope they have a variety of exercises”.   My wish was answered with a plethora of options including Kickboxing, Latin dance, Yoga,  Hip Hop,  Bollywood, Pilates, Walking, and Circuit Training just to name a few.  They have work outs and activities that range from 10 minutes- 45+ minutes.  And…….the menu changes so there is no boredom factor!

If you have any of the following cable companies this service IS available to you (free of charge on your OnDemand menu): Comcast, Time Warner Cable, AT&T, Cox, Verizon, Insight, Blue Ridge Communications, LodgeNet, and TiVo. Simply go to your OnDemand menu, click on ExerciseTV, and select your program! It’s THAT simple. Now you can work out with some of the best trainers in the world, right in your living room! You can also try out some of the hottest new trends in fitness before doing them at the gym. Or, you can keep it simple with the basic go-to programs. Follow this link for a list of this week’s programs that are available through your OnDemand menu: http://www.exercisetv.tv/on-demand

If you do not have a cable company that participates in this great program, you can still be part of the experience through your laptop or PC.

Go to: http://www.exercisetv.tv/workout-videos/. Here you will find a very large selection of videos and workouts. Some are free of charge and others have a cost.
